In the chassis subsystem, we design, analyze, and manufacture the frame of the vehicle. We have to work closely with the Shell Eco Marathon rules for dimension and safety requirements. Our main goals are to create a safe vehicle for the driver in the case of a collision or rollover and to design a chassis suitable for eco marathon racing.
Currently, the chassis subsystem projects include the design of the main chassis frame, design of fixtures for other subsystem components, design of the seat and harness, design of the firewall, design of the welding jig, and analysis of the entire chassis. Once in-person activities resume, we will begin the manufacturing process of the chassis. We put many skills to use including 3D modeling with assemblies, engineering drafting, structural analysis, welding, metalworking, and machining. We use Solidworks for modeling and simulation of the chassis and its components.
